Here it is, as promised: a list of some of the best things I’ve posted since I started blogging.
I started this project planning to put all the favorites on one page. But I found I couldn’t resist posting comments, and posting more links than I’d planned, once I really started to delve into the matter. So I’m breaking them up into a couple of different pages. And I’ll probably try culling and editing at some point so it isn’t too unwieldy. In the meantime, enjoy…
Epiphany – Normally, I read these old posts and I don’t honestly remember what the heck I was talking about. It was so important to me at the time, and I look back and wonder why. This is one of the few that I do remember. I remember the moment, if not (entirely) the crisis that perpetuated it.
Samuel – This one really speaks for itself.
It’s Wednesday for a Moment – I’d forgotten there used to be the Weird Wednesdays, and I particularly liked my response to this set of questions. I really do think I’m quite amazingly funny sometimes, which never ceases to surprise me, since I don’t normally think of myself as someone who is all that funny.
Why…? – An intriguing little gem of a post, one of many written by me expounding on a particular mood, not to mention the direction of my life and the problem of change.
I’m Back & Better Than Ever – A kick in the pants for me the me of today from the me of yesterday.
The Low Point – I remember this one, too. It’s silly, looking back. I was sitting in the Career Services Office at school and deduced from the conversation going on around me that the guy from the Samuel post had a girlfriend. Then, said girlfriend walked into the room. No big deal, but at the time…heartbreaking. This also happened on the same day that I met my friend to see a play and saw a guy I’d gone out of a date with standing out front. Remember? Good times.
The Law & Order Oracle – Truer words were never spoken. Incidentally, the night my friend took me to see Assassins (which spurred this post in the first place) was the same day as the bad day mentioned in the post above this one.
Why Stir of Echoes Is a Better Movie Than The Sixth Sense – One of my few attempts at film criticism, which is surprising given that Cinema Studies was my major in college. I stand by this post. Even more so now.
Artists & Iraq – My political posts are not usually my favorites, when looking back, because they tend to be topical and do not translate well into the present. But this one I rather enjoyed, and I think it maintains a certain relevance even today.
“Michelle” – About the absurdities of the Beatles song.
Why Peeping Tom Is a Better Movie Than Psycho – A more controversial, and perhaps overreaching, type of film comparison post.
Remembering – Three years after September 11. Even now, coming upon six years, the pain still runs deep.
A Dog in This Fight – An issue I still feel very strongly about.
Falling into the Mirror – A fine mixture of my thoughtful nature and my neurotic one.
The Numbers on Marriage – My attempt to put my other college major (Politics) to use.
Some Thoughts on Antigone – Some LitCrit brought on by the law school madness.
The Mystery of Hugh – A sentimental favorite, for reasons of my own. Short, but sweet.
